Selected through an NRG special open call, the students joined the ROBE stand at Fira de Barcelona Gran Via from 2nd to 6th of February 2026, working alongside international professionals and gaining first-hand experience of one of the industry’s most important global events. From the very beginning, the opportunity was designed as a mentored, hands-on professional experience and training.

Rather than being quiet participants, our six NRG students became gradually integrated into the ROBE team by rotating through structured learning tasks. They welcomed visitors, engaged with fellow students interested in lighting, presented NRG activities, and supported the stand throughout the show.

Three students operated RoboSpots during all live performances at the ROBE booth under the guidance of the International Creative Team. Others ran the NRG info point, speaking with young visitors about educational pathways and helping register new contacts. They also assisted during the official ROBE reception, confidently introducing fixtures thanks to prior technical training.

Their preparation began in Barcelona where all students received technical fixture training from Robe specialists, including a visit to the demo room and detailed explanation of fixture functions and components and connected informally with team members and lighting professionals over a shared dinner before the show opened.

The structure of the group was well designed and led to an exciting collaboration. Two more experienced participants helped guide the others. All our NRG students communicated confidently with the creative team and ROBE staff, used their time to network actively.

The experience proved to be much more than a stand help or a technical training. Working within a high-level international team, navigating real-world workflows, and interacting directly with industry professionals broadened the students’ horizons and deepened their commitment to the field. All six expressed strong interest in participating in future ROBE initiatives.
